I feel like some of y'all took the wrong message from the “decide who gets the heart transplant” activity in high school.

it’s not about how we should decide who’s most important or worthy of life. it’s about the futility of trying to attribute material value to a person’s life, and to weigh it against another, in the first place.

the little girl who plays violin really good could die in a car accident one month from her surgery. the old man on the verge of death could live another decade in good health with a successful transplant.

the little girl could grow up to be a horrible person. the old man could be the grandpa of many, beloved, kind, and an incredible asset to his community.

you don’t know, and it wouldn’t matter if you did anyway. nobody is qualified to judge the value of a human life. there isn’t one. you can’t measure it, and you can’t decide the worth of one over another.

shut the fuck up about “we need to focus all of our resources on this group bc they need it more”. shut the fuck up about “we need to keep out the Fakers who don’t really need it.”

you don’t know that! only they know what they really need, and all we can do is try to provide options and tailor our help to the needs and the situations before us.

Tbh this sounds like a terrible exercise to give high schoolers.

yes.

i think queer people should be more confusing actually. i think we should make everyone as confused as possible until they give up and realize that total understanding of other people isnt the gateway to respect and compassion

seeing the terms “bad rep” and “good rep” applied to media that was created by and for an in-group makes me want to eat glass

“not sure if this is a good representation of the trans community :/“ right well a trans person made it, and they made it for other trans people, so. perhaps that logic is not applicable here. must we live our entire creative lives under the watchful eye of Cisgender Scrutiny? how can you compare self-expression to willful misrepresentation lmao

compulsory abledness also (partially) explains why disability aids are forced onto some people and denied from others

prosthetic limbs are forced onto amputees whether they want them or not because the goal is to make disabled people look as abled as possible. whereas, all sorts of people who would benefit from mobility aids are often denied them until it’s a “last resort” because! you guessed it! the goal is to make us look as abled as possible

neither person in this situation is privileged. it’s just that the same harmful phenomenon impacts different groups in different ways

Please for the love of god, if you value whatever media or whatever you’re creating a wiki for:

DO NOT USE FANDOM WIKIA

Not just because Fandom wiki is just straight up adware. But because they will happily take all your rights as a wiki owner away and give it to a corporation in the name of profits, like they did to the McDonald’s wiki or y'know, completely destroy LGBTQ+ wikis on many identities (including removing nearly every aroacespec labels including demisexual, greyromantic, and many other labels, including many more I used!) all without the permission or consent of the admins of the wiki to “make LGBTQ+ identities easier to understand” and replaced the admins with their own chosen ones, of which iirc were very questionable in their behavior.

“What are alternatives then?”

Fandom Wikia runs off a FREE open-source software known as MediaWiki, it’s the same thing Wikipedia, Bulbapedia, and many others use.

This means that you can host your own wiki, or use any other wiki farm such as Miraheze, which is what the wiki I help run uses.

The best part about WikiMedia is that something made on one wiki can be cross-compatible with another. We often use and base our templates off of other wikis, and it makes it somewhat easier to transfer from FANDOM if necessary.

Stop FANDOM’s monopoly over wikis, they’ll stab you in the back as soon as it’s a choice between the user or profits.
